The 1st thing you would probably think of when you see something red in the poop of your dog is that he/she is pooping blood. However, do not panic. First of all, know if the red you are seeing is really blood. If it is, read below to know what to do.

Determine First

It is really alarming to see something red in the poop of your dog. Red poop could be severe or nothing to worry about, depending on what the red color really is. It can be one of 2 things if the poop of your dog looks red.

According to several vets, it could be caused by red coloring, such as food coloring. It can be a thing that the dog ate that’s just passing through innocently. Your dog might also poop the red color if it eats red Crayons. Generally, food dyes that come from sources that are nontoxic would pass through in the stool and doesn’t leave any long-term effects.

What to Know if it really Blood

Unluckily, it is really troubling if the red poop of your dog is actually blood. According to professionals, blood in the poop could be caused by infections. This includes bacterial infections or parasite infections.

What to Do

Immediately contact your vet to make an appointment as soon as possible if you see red in the poop of your dog and you recently did not notice your dog eating a lot of red crayons. Bring a fresh sample of the poop of your dog if possible.
