Do Cats Fart?

You are not the 1st person who has wondered if a cat farts. And if they really do, are they normal and who do cats do it? Lucky for you, we would be clearing up the topic about cat farts today.

Do Cats really fart? Why do they do that?

You should know this before you get worried – almost all cat farts are normal. Also, most of them don’t have smell. Several popular causes of cat farts include:

  • Dietary Changes
  • Hairballs
  • Eating garbage or spoiled food
  • Swallowing a lot of air and eating too quick
  • Dairy ingestion
  • High fiber diets

A clean cat water bowl is also important for overall health. Make sure to replace them from time to time. We carry many designs of cat fountains to choose from.

Should you worry?

Though almost all cat farts are gentle, several red flags would alert you to consult your vet. If you see few of the symptoms listed below, immediately call your vet for an appointment. Here are several symptoms that could show more severe health problems.

  • Excess drooling
  • Scooting along the floor
  • Lowered appetite
  • Abdominal pain when their belly is touched
  • Bloody stools
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Excessive gas
  • Bloating
  • Noticeable rumbling in their tummy

Sometimes it could be that your cat's bed is uncomfortable. Check out our options from big and small, to portable and outdoor beds.

Health issues that are linked with Cat Farts

During the consultation with your vet, the health experts would ask you about the diet of your cat and eating habits, perform a full physical check and probably order abdominal x-rays or blood work. Though these tests and examinations might sound scary, they are vital in diagnosing these health issues that go beyond”

  • Intestinal Obstruction
  • Gastrointestinal cancer
  • Pancreatic problems
  • Worms
  • Parasites
  • Intestinal virus
  • Malabsorption
  • Inflammatory bowel disease

Sometimes your cat may just need a nice comfy place to help digest their meal. Have you kept their litter box up to date? We have some here.

My cat had an escape strategy when he was a kitten, pick him up for a cuddle and he’d fart very smelly and he soon got put down. Luckily hes grown out of it now?
