5 Ways To Identify If Your Cat Is Fat

1.) Feel the ribs of the cat.

You must be able to easily feel your cat’s ribs and there must be a little amount of fat over them. However, each rib must be different. When you can see the ribs through their skin, it indicates that your pet is very thin. On the other hand, if you can’t feel them at all, your cat is too overweight.

2.) Check the area near the cat’s tail base.

The must be a bit of fat that covers over this area. Also, it must feel smooth. Once the bones stick out, your pet is very thin. However, if you can’t feel any bones at all, the pet is too overweight.

3.) Feel some prominence that is bony on the body of your pet.

This includes areas such as the shoulders, hips, and spine. Again, you must feel a little amount of fat over these areas. If these bones are visible or can be easily felt, it means that your cat is very thin. On another note, your cat is obviously overweight if you can’t feel the bones under the layer of fat.

4.) See your cat from above.

Behind the ribs, the cat must have an ultimate waist. If the area between the hips and ribs is wider compared to its ribs or hips, the cat is extremely overweight.

5.) Look at your cat from the side.

Cats must usually have a tucked abdominal. Meaning, the area behind the ribs must be smaller in diameter compared to the chest.
