Keeping your pooches warm in cold weather is extremely important. They have much smaller bodies than we do and may be more susceptible to the cold. There are several ways to address this issue, but it all starts with making sure your pets have good quality dog blankets.

We advise buying at least two or three dog blankets or dog throws to keep your fur-baby nice and cozy during the night. It’s wise to have a spare blanket as well, for when you need to wash the others, or in case your pooch makes a mess on one of them.

If you live in an area that gets very cold or you have an older pet that suffers from arthritis, you can find a selection of heated dog blankets to keep your pet warm and comfortable. Some of these will feature an internal sensor that allows them to regulate the heat produced in accordance with your dog’s needs.

These blankets are placed flat under the dog’s bedding so that they have a warm spot to lie upon. You’ll still need something to go over the top as well, however. But the advantage of the heated option is that they provide more warmth than a simple bed.

They’ll usually come with removable covers that can easily be washed and dried. If you’re choosing a heated model, we advise looking for a couple of extra covers so that you have spares for when the main one is in the wash.
